Frost prevention and cooling system in the field
Principle and budget assessment
A frost prevention system with a sprinkler system is the most effective and economical solution. The fact that all sectors must be turned on simultaneously during frost creates difficulties, there is a high demand for water and electricity. Impact sprinklers require a relatively high pressure of droplets, and they are not effective during frost. The company Proagro has sprinklers (wobblers) that shoot water in all directions at the same time, which are very effective in frost projects. See how they work in these videos:
This system can be connected to a drip irrigation system, since the working pressure for the wobbler is low.
Each project is individual. It is better to plan a drip system together with an anti-frost system. Therefore, you should decide on what area you can grow early varieties.
Once the danger of frost has passed, the sprinkler system can be dismantled, stored, or moved to a later-season area where it can cool the plants on hot days and protect the fruit from scorching. Since cooling requires less water intensity, the existing drip system and its pump can cool 4 times more area than during frost.
